Make sure the entrance of your home is appealing, especially the front
door, since this is the first impression of your property. Keep lawn and
shrubs well maintained.
Consider painting the house before showing it -- inside and outside. This
is an inexpensive improvement and probably the most important.
Let the sun shine in! Open the window coverings and let your buyer see how
cheerful your home can be.
Keep the closets clean. Well organized closets appear to be spacious
closets.
Having an attic, a garage or a basement is a big plus. Their contents
should be well organized to show maximum space.
Clean bathrooms sell homes. Check and repair the caulking the bathtub and
shower areas. Make this room sparkle!
Lubricate sticking doors, windows and drawers. Fix loose door knobs and
leaky faucets.
When showing your home, try not to have any distractions or loud noises
like pets, radios or televisions.
A reminder -- children can also be a distraction to some potential buyers.
When your local MLS or Realtor takes a photo of your home for the listing,
be sure to have garage doors closed, extra cars removed from the driveway
and trash containers not at the curb.
